University of Coimbra and Government of Rio de Janeiro sign partnership
The agreement aims to strengthen innovation and technology in the public sector.
The University of Coimbra (UC) and the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro have signed a technical cooperation agreement to develop innovative projects in the field of digital transformation. The partnership, signed between UC's Vice-Rector for Innovation, Business Relations and Employability and the State Secretariat for Digital Transformation of Rio de Janeiro, aims to modernise public administration and promote socio-economic development.
The agreement defines strategic collaboration areas, including digital transformation, cybersecurity, data protection, fintech, artificial intelligence, knowledge and data management, education, the economy, sustainable tourism, and cultural and environmental heritage enhancement.
“The signing of this agreement marks a significant step forward in the bilateral relations between Portugal and Brazil in an emerging field like Digital Transformation,” explains UC Vice-Rector Nuno Mendonça. “Working with one of Brazil's largest and most prestigious states is an honour and reinforces our commitment to innovation and scientific research,” he adds.
“This agreement strengthens the ties between Brazil and Portugal, focusing on innovation and digital transformation. The exchange of experiences in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and digital governance will be key to modernising public management and fostering entrepreneurship,” said the State Secretary for Digital Transformation, Feu Braga.
Signed on 17 March, the agreement reinforces both institutions' commitment to innovation and digital transformation, promoting advanced technological solutions to tackle the challenges faced by the public sector.
