BotOlympics, the largest robotics programming competition in the Centre region, returns to the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC) from 27 to 30 March, challenging young talent in the field. The event will take place at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC-FCTUC), with the finals held at Alma Shopping.

Organised by the AAC Group of Electrical and Computer Engineering Students (NEEEC/AAC) in partnership with the Robotics Club of the University of Coimbra (CR), the competition aims to introduce young aspiring engineers to the world of robotics.

Over four days, participants from primary and secondary schools, as well as higher education institutions, will have the opportunity to develop and test their programming and problem-solving skills by applying their knowledge to real-life challenges involving autonomous robots.

According to Luís Ventura, general coordinator of this edition, "BotOlympics stands out for combining competition and training in a dynamic and accessible environment, offering a unique experience to participants regardless of their age or level of experience."

Beyond the competition itself, BotOlympics is also committed to promoting programming and robotics to the wider public. On 29 March, Alma Shopping will host the parallel BotKids programme, featuring demonstrations, challenges, and interactive activities specifically designed for children and families.

Over the past decade, BotOlympics has grown and established itself within Portugal’s educational and technological landscape, becoming the largest robotics programming competition in the Centre region. The initiative continues to encourage young people to develop essential skills for the future, combining creativity, logical thinking, and teamwork.
