UC student-athlete Diogo Cancela wins bronze at the 2024 Paralympic Games

Diogo Cancela, a student at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra, won a bronze medal today, 1st September, at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The athlete won the 200m freestyle (SM8) medal with a time of 2.23.64 minutes, which is now a new national record. He was just 14 hundredths of a second away from silver.

Diogo Cancela will also compete in the 400m freestyle SM8 on 4 September and the 100m butterfly S8 on 7 September.
