A delegation from the University of Coimbra (UC), led by the Vice-Rector for External Relations and Alumni, João Nuno Calvão da Silva, was in Beijing (China) this week for a working visit focused on strengthening student, teaching, and technical staff mobility and fostering cooperation in language, culture, and the arts.

UC renewed agreements with the Beijing Foreign Studies University and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, with which it has maintained joint centres since 2019.

The UC delegation, which included Albano Figueiredo, Director of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FLUC), João Luís Fernandes, FLUC’s Deputy Director for International Relations, and Miao Zhou, Executive Director of UC’s Confucius Institute, also signed new partnerships.

It is also worth mentioning that the UC has signed a memorandum with the Renmin University Arts School to promote collaboration in the fields of language, culture and the arts.

According to João Nuno Calvão da Silva, "the internationalisation of the University of Coimbra in China is a strategic priority, and the growing cooperation with key institutions in that country reflects the prestige of our faculties and recognises the excellent work of the Confucius Institute and the Sino-Lusophone Academy".
