UC Science Museum's Physics Cabinet reopens to the public on World Tourism Day
Visitors are expected to 'feel, not notice' the new layout of the space. Admission to the Cabinet of Experimental Physics is free on World Tourism Day.
The reopening of the Physics Cabinet coincided with World Tourism Day, which falls on 27 September. The director of the Science Museum of the University of Coimbra (MCUC), Paulo Trincão, described the reopening of the Cabinet of Experimental Physics as "a gift for everyone," adding, "We know the worldwide attraction of these collections and their importance not only for the tourist circuit but also for the educational circuit."
"We examined the structure of the building, especially the electrical installation," explains Paulo Trincão. "We also took the opportunity to standardise the way we communicate in the different rooms, reorganising the descriptions of the exhibits and rooms, their aesthetics and printing on more durable material," he adds. "It was a redesign that we hope won't be noticed, but will be felt,".
On World Tourism Day, the Science Museum's Cabinet of Experimental Physics is open to the public free of charge. (Visits from 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm, with the last admission 30 minutes earlier).
