Solemn Opening of academic year 2024/2025 to be held on Wednesday, 2 October
The traditional Opening Ceremony will take place at 10:30 in the Great Hall of Acts. Later in the evening, TAGV will host the opening concert of the new academic year by the UC Academic Orchestra.
The Solemn Opening Ceremony of the 2024/25 academic year at the University of Coimbra (UC) will be held on Wednesday 2 October at 10:30 a.m. in the Great Hall of Acts (Sala dos Capelos).
The event will include speeches by the President of the UC, Amílcar Falcão, and the President of the General Directorate of the Academic Association of Coimbra (DG/AAC), Renato Daniel, as well as the traditional Sapientia Lecture, which this year will be delivered by Lígia Salgueiro, Full Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra.
The traditional opening concert of the academic year, performed by the Academic Orchestra of the University of Coimbra (OAUC), will also take place on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. Titled 'Rebirths,' the concert will feature a symphonic repertoire that reflects the renewal and rebirth that occurs with each new year or generation (more information here).
