New President of the Coimbra Students' Union General Directorate already in office

The new leadership of DG-AAC promises a mandate focused on modernisation, enhancing university sport and culture, and strengthening institutional relations.

Carlos Magalhães, a Civil Engineering student, is the new president of the General Directorate of the Associação Académica de Coimbra (DG/AAC). The new cabinet promises a mandate focused on modernisation, valuing university sports and culture, and strengthening institutional relations.

Carlos Magalhães says, "Our main priorities for this mandate are the finals of the National University Championships and the European Tennis and Paddle Championships". The new president highlights the upcoming municipal elections in the political field: "We want to strengthen the relationship with the University of Coimbra, the City Council and other institutions in Coimbra.

On the cultural front, the aim is to "continue to encourage and support our structures". Carlos Magalhães also stressed that, in terms of political demands, 'social policy and housing are on the agenda'.

Digital innovation will be another major focus for the DG/AAC. The President underlined his commitment to creating a more connected and efficient association, "with an action plan for digital transition to bring our members closer together and maintain this approach in the present, but also in the future".
In the field of sport, Carlos Magalhães stressed the objective of establishing top-level events in Portugal, mentioning the World Canoeing Championships in Montemor: "We want to establish this type of event in Coimbra".
The swearing-in ceremony took place on 3 December at 6 pm at the Rectory Auditorium of the University of Coimbra.
