The University of Coimbra is hosting the 2nd edition of the international scientific event SAW | Seeing and Acting Workshop: Functional and Neural Perspectives from tomorrow to Saturday (26-28), bringing together several renowned international experts to discuss the latest scientific advances in cognitive neuroscience.
The meeting will provide a forum for experts, researchers and students to discuss ongoing projects, future collaborations and research in cognitive neuroscience, supported by the ERA Chair Cogbooster, a €2.5 million project funded by the European Commission to enhance the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra (FPCEUC) as a leading centre for research and teaching in cognitive neuroscience.
Neuroscientist Alfonso Caramazza, Professor at Harvard University, who collaborates with the FPCEUC as head of the ERA Chair Cogbooster, will be present, along with other speakers who are experts in Perception and Action and who, like Alfonso Caramazza, focus their research on the brain, trying to unravel the mysteries of its organisation and functioning: Chris Baker, National Institute of Mental Health, USA; Paolo Bartolomeo, Paris Brain Institute (ICM), France; Jody Culham, Western University (Canada); Roland Fleming, Giessen University, Germany; Angelika Lingnau, University of Regensburg Germany; Hans Op de Beeck, KU Leuven, Belgium; and Liuba Papeo, from the Marc Jeannerod Institute of Cognitive Sciences (France).
The three-day event will be held in Building 1 of the University of Coimbra's Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, and will also feature scientific poster presentations by national and international students, early career researchers, and postdoctoral researchers.
Members of the scientific committee are Alfonso Caramazza; Jorge Almeida, professor and researcher at the University of Coimbra and coordinator of Cogbooster at UC; Paul Downing, Bangor University (UK); Mel Goodale, Western University (Canada); Zoe Kourtzi, University of Cambridge (UK); Angelika Lingnau, University of Regensburg (Germany); and Isabel Pavão Martins, University of Lisbon.
