The event will be held at Johannes Kepler University in Linz, with the UC community's participation, and will be live streamed on the EC2U YouTube channel.
The EC2U - European Campus of City Universities - will meet again next week, from 21 to 24 October, for the 8th edition of the EC2U Forum, which will bring together the communities of the eight universities that make up this European consortium: the University of Coimbra, University of Poitiers (France), Friedrich Schiller University of Jena (Germany), Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi (Romania), University of Salamanca (Spain), University of Pavia (Italy), University of Turku (Finland) and Johannes Kepler University of Linz (Austria).
Organised by the Johannes Kepler University of Linz, this edition is dedicated to the theme "Building a more peaceful society", with a focus on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 - Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, which has become part of EC2U's action strategy, together with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education") and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
The meeting will be attended by students, teachers, researchers and technical staff from the University of Coimbra. Several Portuguese partners will also be present: Associação Académica de Coimbra, Coimbra City Council, Erasmus Student Network Coimbra and Coimbra Local Health Unit.
During the event, several activities will be open to the public and can be followed online via the EC2U YouTube channel: The opening session of the Forum on 22 October; a round table on higher education on 23 October; the science competition, also on 23 October, with the participation of scientists from the Universities of Salamanca, Alexandru Ioan Cuza from Iasi and Johannes Kepler from Linz; and the student session on 24 October, during which students from the eight universities will discuss a range of issues related to higher education and the challenges we are currently facing as a society concerning the theme of the Forum, such as students at risk.
The European Campus of City-Universities (EC2U) is a multicultural and multilingual Alliance, coordinated by the University of Poitiers aimed at developing an open and innovative space allowing seamless mobility between the eight universities and their associated cities. The alliance is based on a unique cooperation between academic communities, municipalities, regional authorities, socio-economic actors and citizens.
