AAC/UC Students Win 14 Medals at National Short Course Swimming Championships

AAC/UC athletes won five gold medals, six silver medals, three bronze medals and set new records.

Students from the Academic Association/University of Coimbra (AAC/UC) excelled at the National University Short Course Swimming Championships, winning 14 medals and setting new records.

Among the standout performances were the national records set by Gabriel Lopes, from the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education of the University of Coimbra (FCDEFUC). Lopes achieved a time of 25.19 seconds in the 3rd series of the 4x50m backstroke and 25.02 seconds in the 4th series of the 50m individual backstroke. He also set a remarkable record in the 100m backstroke with a time of 53.82 seconds.

Camila Rebelo, a student at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra (FMUC), initially set a new record in the 50m backstroke with a time of 28.42 seconds in the second series. However, this record was later surpassed in the third heat.

Another highlight was the 4x50m freestyle relay, where the team of Camila Rebelo (FMUC), Ana Romão (FCTUC), Helena Rodrigues (FEUC), and Inês Henriques (also from FCTUC) achieved an impressive time of 1 minute 49.56 seconds.

The National University Short Course Swimming Championships took place in Matosinhos on 24 November.
