5th Anniversary Ceremony of 'Seed Projects for Interdisciplinary Research' to be held this Thursday
The winners of the 6th edition of the programme, which supports projects by early career researchers from the University of Coimbra, will be announced at the event, to be held at Colégio da Trindade at 14:00.
The winners of the 6th edition of the ‘Seed Projects for Interdisciplinary Research ’ will be announced this Thursday, 6 March. The ceremony will also serve as an assessment of the 5th anniversary of this programme, which, since its inception, has already supported 24 research projects by researchers from the University of Coimbra in the UC Strategic Areas: Health; Climate, Energy and Mobility; Natural Resources, Agri-food and Environment; Digital, Industry and Space; and Heritage, Culture and Inclusive Society.
The event will take place at Colégio da Trindade at 2 p.m. Each winning project will receive €20,000 for its implementation, sponsored by the Santander Portugal Foundation.
João Ramalho-Santos, UC Vice-Rector for Research and Director of the UC Institute for Interdisciplinary Research, and Inês Gouveia, Director of Santander Universidades Portugal, will open the ceremony.
This will be followed by the lectures "From Seed to Excellence" by Joana Gaspar de Freitas, researcher at the Centre for History (Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon) and FCTUC Professor Paulo Rocha (Department of Life Sciences), researcher at the UC Centre for Functional Ecology (CFE).
At 15:00, winners from previous editions will share their experiences. At 15:45, the five winning projects of the 2025 edition will be announced and awarded. The Rector of the University of Coimbra, Amílcar Falcão, will give the closing remarks.
